Transport containers made of EPP are light, highly durable, shock absorbing and permit multiple use. They can be used for precise-fitting storage and transportation of items such as painted moldings, lighting units or electronic components, ensuring a safe, troublefree transport flow.
Load carriers can be used for internal logistical operations and also for external goods transport. The containers are packed with components, transported to the customer and then returned after emptying. This process can be repeated any number of times – in the automotive industry for instance over the whole lifetime of a model series. Packing and removal can be performed manually or by robot. This type of returnable multi-use solution offers an environmentally friendly option. When the containers become unsuitable for further use, they can easily be recycled.
To distinguish between different parts, the transport containers can be marked using adhesive labels. This allows the products to be easily identified from the outside when stacked in trays.
Where particularly sensitive components are involved, “dual density” load carriers can be used. This means that the external container is foamed in a higher density than the inner section, ensuring that even the most sensitive components reach their destination safely.
Particle foams made of expanded polypropylene (EPP) are semi-hard to flexible thermoplastic synthetic foams consisting largely of closed cells.
EPP offers good mechanical attributes, and is notable for benefits such as high specific energy consumption, low compression set and capacity to withstand multiple impacts without appreciable loss of absorption characteristics.
Expandable polypropylene is composed of 95 % air and only 5 % polypropylene. ARPRO® is produced without CFCs (Chlorofluorocarbons) and HCFCs (Hydrochlorofluorocarbons). Its light weight helps to save fuel during transport. As a result of multiple uses material can be saved. ARPRO® is fully recyclable. Disposal into established recycle circuits helps to reduce use of virgin raw material.
